Katelyn Reed is one of New Zealand’s finest Corde Lisse (aerial rope) artists. Her talents have seen her perform in NZs World of Wearable Art Show (WOW) as well as Raw Circus in Wellington, Costella music festival, The World Buskers Festival, The NZ Arts Festival (Belle) and her own productions (Fool Steam Ahead – Children’s Circus Comedy Show). She specialises in Corde Lisse, Handbalaning, Contortion and acrobatics. This incredible NZ Maori born artist will be performing Corde Lisse and Trio Acrobatics for you. All the way from Wellington & not to be missed.
Genia Collingwood has previously worked for Moscow circus in Russia She trained as a contortionist at young age and performed group contortion act of 5 girls. Genia travelled the world and performed in many circus competitions including International circus competition in Paris The Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, and won bronze Medal. She became an aerialist, performing aerial Lyra with spinning hula hoop. Genia worked for Disney Land in Tokyo performing as a Little Mermaid character before moving to NZ in 2004. Currently she is part of Brophy aerials school based in Dunedin. Genia coaches kids contortion classes and performs aerial Fabric, Net and Lyra. Circus is in her heart and she is very passionate about what she does. She will be bringing a Aerial Hoop / Lyra Act to the Arrowtown Autumn Festival for you. Don’t miss it!
Abigail Rose trained in multiple circus disciplines in New Zealand, discovering a passion for creativity and physical challenge. She was trained by Deborah Pope on Swinging Trapeze in New Zealand and then continued her training across Canada to New York USA. She has spent the past 15 years performing aerials across the Southern Hemisphere and running workshops in multiple schools and outreach programmes in Western Australia and South Africa. Abigail now resides in Central Otago where she performs, builds community circus and continues to teach though her company circus space community trust. At this festival Abigail will capture you through her beauty and strength. Taking many forms it will amaze any audience.
June Ward (16) and Zadie Tarbit (18) are contortionists and aerialists training with Brophy Aerials in Dunedin. Having been performing professionally for over five years at various showcases and festivals, this duo is well versed in putting on a show. Zadie and June are passionate about making circus more accessible, and a more widely recognised form of art.
Rochelle Brophy‘s background is in dance and working professionally as a dancer, then as an aerialist. For over twenty years, she worked internationally in such shows as Blackpool Tower and the Moscow Circus, as well as in festivals, casinos, clubs, and theatres around the world. She runs a training school, (Brophy Aerials) which has become a successful Production Company. Once the students reach the required standard they can audition for Brophy Productions, enabling them to work professionally. Rochelle works closely with aerial dance, harness and creative installations. She will take to the sky with a magical harness piece with Abigail Rose her creative partner.
