Artists background:

Katelyn Reed (Wellington) Corde Lisse

Katelyn is of Ngati Porou decent. Katelyn Reed grew up in the Waitakere Ranges, started circus through The Dust Palace scholarship program, and then furthered her training full time at Whitireia Circus Program, gaining her Bachelor In Applied Arts. Katelyn specialises in Corde Lisse, and also trains Hand-balance, Contortion, Floor acrobatics and Juggling.

Regina Hegemann (Wellington) Contortion

Originally from Germany, Regina is Co-founder and Director of Curio Entertainment Ltd . She specialises in contortion (extreme flexibility) and has produced many shows. Her performances include The Flying Femmes 2023, Circus of the Night 2022/2023,  Winter Mardi Gras 2022, Cascade (Colossal NZ), Kapiti Cabaret 2021 and The Performance Arcade’s Late Night Cabaret 2021

Frances Muir (Wellington) Corde Lisse

Frances uses contemporary dance in her aerial movement to create dynamic, fluid and unique performances. From Cuba Dupa to award winning Wellington Fringe Shows, she has performed all over NZ. Fran has trained in NZ, Ireland, UK and Australia collecting a range of skills and methods to express herself effectively in the air.

Genia Colling (Dunedin) Lyra

Growing up,  Genia trained as a contortionist in Russia. She was part of the group contortion act that have travelled around the world performing at international Circus Competitions and variety of different shows. Has worked for Big Moscow Circus company for 6 years, Performing a solo aerial lyra act with the Hula Hoop. She has performed with this act all around Russia.

Ilka Beekhuis (Nelson) Aerial Fabric

Ilka is an Aerial Silks performer and teacher based in Nelson. Her high level skills on Aerial Fabric have been performed across Dunedin multiple times at the Midwinter Carnival and surrounding areas. She performs straps, harness and a wide range of circus acrobatics.

Abigail Rose (Central Otago) Doubles Trapeze

She is trained in multiple circus disciplines in New Zealand,  discovering a passion for creativity and physical challenge in 2007 and has spent the past 15 years performing aerials across Australia, Asia, Europe and Africa.  Abigail has been part of numerous teaching projects through schools / outreach programmes across remote parts of Western Australia and townships in South Africa/Rwanda. She specialises in Trapeze & Harness,  runs Circus Space and teaches across NZ.

Ben Kotovski-Steel (PERTH) Doubles Trapeze / Juggling

Ben is a circus performer, deviser and rigger from Perth, Western Australia. Within the circus world, he is an all-rounder with interests in aerial acrobatics, juggling and partner acrobatics. Ben co-runs two Perth-based circus companies, Yip Yip Circus and Acrobatch Circus, as well as coordinates the Youth Troupe program at CircusWA.
